Fordeler for lokalsamfunnene:
Utfordringer:
Økoturismen i nord står overfor flere utfordringer.

Dear Mr Berger,
I am writing to introduce our company, Arctic Sustainable Travel, and to propose a partnership that I believe would be of mutual benefit. We are a Tromsø-based tour operator specialising in eco-certified travel experiences in Northern Norway, and we have been following Naturreisen's impressive growth in the sustainable travel segment with great interest.
About our product: We have recently developed a 7-day eco-tourism package covering Tromsø, Vesterålen, and Lofoten, which combines Arctic nature experiences, Sámi cultural encounters, wildlife safaris, and active environmental participation. All accommodations are Eco-Lighthouse or Green Key certified, and the full journey includes carbon offsetting. The package has been designed to meet the expectations of environmentally conscious travellers who value quality, authenticity, and meaningful cultural exchange.
Why the German market: Germany is one of the world's largest outbound travel markets, and German travellers consistently rank sustainability as a key factor in their travel decisions. According to the Forschungsgemeinschaft Urlaub und Reisen (FUR), over 50% of German travellers consider environmental friendliness when choosing a holiday. Norway already enjoys a strong reputation in Germany as a nature destination, and Northern Norway in particular has seen growing interest thanks to media coverage of the northern lights, midnight sun, and Arctic wildlife.
Proposed partnership model: We would like to suggest a commission-based partnership in which Naturreisen markets and sells the package to your German-speaking clientele, while we handle all ground operations in Norway. We propose a commission of 15% on net package price. We can also offer:
I would very much welcome the opportunity to discuss this further. Would it be convenient to schedule a video call in the coming weeks? Alternatively, if you will be attending the ITB Berlin travel trade fair, we would be delighted to meet in person.
I am enclosing a detailed product sheet and our sustainability report for your reference.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Hilde Nordgård

Responsible Travel in Arctic Norway – What You Need to Know
We are thrilled that you have chosen to visit Arctic Norway! The landscapes, wildlife, and communities here are truly extraordinary – and we want to help you experience them in a way that preserves them for generations to come. Here are some guidelines for responsible travel in our region.
Respect the Nature
Norway's "allemannsrett" (right to roam) gives everyone the right to walk freely in nature, but it comes with responsibilities. Always follow marked trails in sensitive areas, and never leave rubbish behind – carry out everything you carry in. Wild camping is permitted, but you must be at least 150 metres from the nearest house and leave the site exactly as you found it. Please do not pick wildflowers in protected areas, and be extra careful during nesting season (May–July).
Wildlife Encounters
Northern Norway is home to whales, eagles, puffins, and reindeer. When encountering wildlife, keep a respectful distance and never feed wild animals. During whale-watching excursions, our boats follow strict guidelines to minimise disturbance. If you see reindeer on the road, slow down and let them pass – they have been grazing these lands for thousands of years.
Sámi Culture
The Sámi are the indigenous people of Northern Scandinavia, and their culture is an integral part of the Arctic landscape. When visiting Sámi communities, approach with curiosity and respect. Always ask permission before photographing people or their reindeer. Choose Sámi-operated tourism experiences whenever possible, as this ensures that the community directly benefits from your visit. Avoid buying mass-produced souvenirs labelled as "Sámi" – look for the Sámi Duodji trademark, which guarantees authentic Sámi handicraft.
Climate and Clothing
Arctic weather can change rapidly. Even in summer, temperatures may drop below 10°C, and wind and rain can appear without warning. Layer your clothing, bring waterproof outerwear, and always carry warm layers on hikes. In winter, temperatures can reach -15°C or lower – your guide will advise on appropriate gear.
Support Local
One of the best things you can do as a visitor is to support local businesses. Eat at local restaurants, buy from local artisans, and book with locally operated tour companies. Your money goes further in small communities, and you will have more authentic experiences as a result.
Leave a Positive Footprint
We believe travel should be a force for good. By choosing to visit with us, you are already supporting conservation projects and local communities in Arctic Norway. If you want to go a step further, you can join one of our beach cleanup activities or donate to our partner organisation, the Arctic Conservation Trust.
Thank you for travelling responsibly. Together, we can protect this incredible part of the world.
